Development Proposal  Chicago, Illinois  2020

Competition Entry

The proposal consists of two buildings.  The first is a Visual and Performing Arts Center where the two forms of art could meet, reinforce and reinvigorate each other.   Facilities would include space for education and practice of drawing, painting, sculpture, theater, music and dance.

The second building is residential consisting of 35 studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments.

Both buildings contain retail space facing W. Chicago Avenue and both are planned around large enclosed winter gardens which are part of the circulation system.  The skylights would be operable for summer and heated for winter.  Due to time constraints the south side of W. Chicago Avenue was not treated.
